Sieger Austria's Leading Companies

Best placing for Weider at Austria's Leading Companies

In October 2009 prizes were awarded to the best companies in Vorarlberg as part of the "Austria’s Leading Companies" event. Weider Wärmepumpen GmbH from Hard managed to come top in the "Small Businesses" category. The competition was hosted for the eleventh time by the daily newspaper Wirtschaftsblatt, KSV1870 and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The top decision makers from the worlds of business and politics attended the event which celebrated the cream of Vorarlberg's economy at the Festival Theatre in Bregenz, where prizes were awarded to the winners in the federal state categories. "Austria’s Leading Companies" stand out with sustainable growth, high equity ratios and best liquidity. In order to assess the competitors, PricewaterhouseCoopers drew up a special new system of indicators which reflect the real values of the companies. The numbers were then processed by the specialists at KSV1870.

In his address, the member of the provincial government Karlheinz Rüdisser emphasised the high gross regional product, the above-average export quota of Vorarlberg in comparison to other federal states and the value of manufacturing companies for the state.

ALC_Lucas_RuppIn the category "Small Businesses", the heat pump manufacturer Weider from Hard managed to take the top place. Since the company was taken over nine years ago by DI Lucas Rupp, both turnover and the number of employees have been increased by a factor of ten. The company now employs 20 employees at the site in Hard, where it produces 600 heat pumps per year which are renowned in the market for their exceptionally high performance. In addition to the commercial and business indicators, Weider was also able to score bonus marks in the competition for the company's approach to sustainability in the areas of ecology, social issues and future-oriented corporate guidance. "When I took over the company in 2000, heat pumps were still far from being a household concept. However, I believed in the future of this energy-efficient technology. However, at the time even I did not expect that the market would develop so quickly", said Lucas Rupp after receiving the prize from WK-Vorarlberg Vice-President Ing. Eduard Fischer.
